Inspiration and colour are everywhere in the Mediterranean. Bougainvillea, plumbago, hibiscus, roses, palms, and hydrangeas are simply there, part of the everyday landscape and familiar places. The beauty is constant, and quietly inspiring.

This series came from stepping away from the sea and back into colour. After spending so much time working with blues, I needed a change, and that’s where the botanicals began.

It wasn’t something I planned, necessarily. The suggestion of flowers often appeared with just a few brushstrokes. These paintings sit between abstraction and suggestion, rather than focusing on specific forms.
